The Story Teller, the Artist, and the Reader
This assignment taught me that pictures can speak just as much as words can. Looking back at old drawings I saved from past students, I can see now that it wasn't just scribbles and lines. Their work had meaning and a story to tell. It was a story that they created or visioned in their own minds and was able to project it onto paper and do so without a single word. I enjoy writing, but I don't feel as though I am a writer. I enjoy journaling and using pictures to express my thoughts and feelings.
I love pictures more than writing. I'm amazed at how creative children really are. They can tell off the wall stories to just about anyone that will listen.
ReplyDeleteUsing pictures as a form of communication is so creative to me! I love that there can be such a deeper meaning to what seems like scribbles, just as you said. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that students work even when it might be just scribbles and lines does in fact tell a story. To me it is really amazing how students know exactly what story they are trying to tell with their drawings even if others may not fully understand what it means until the student explains what each piece of the drawing is meant to be and how it is incorporated into the story.
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting that you are into journaling. Knowing you are artistic it shouldn't be surprising. I just think it is interesting the interests of the different personality types. Like I dislike writing and journaling because I am a math and science personality.
